I was very saddened by the passing of Leo on May 4, 2008.
My thoughts go back to those Sundays when Jim and Leo
would come to our home for Sunday dinner-how they both appreciated my mother's
good country cooking. After a night at the Louisiana Hayride, they must
have found those Sundays as a special day of relaxation and fun. Between
my dad and Jim, there were many funny stories around the table-they were
both great story tellers.
John Rex and Leo in studio-Nashville, 1980s.
I was very impressed with the loyalty that Leo always
had for Jim. I heard Jim say more than once that no matter what band member
failed to show at an appearance, if Leo was there, they could pull it off.
In the music business this is very rare. Leo was very talented and helped
Jim develop his career as a legend in music.
We will all certainly miss him.
With heartfelt condolences,
John Rex
